Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) Program

The Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) Program is an initiative funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). SWIS staff work in collaboration with teachers, school administrators, counselors, and community organizations to support parents in participating in school life, guide them through the Canadian school system, inform them about community resources (health, housing, employment, etc.), and foster a sense of belonging for students and their families. This program currently serves the following Francophone schools:

  • École la Mosaïque
  • École du Nouveau-Monde
  • École Terre des Jeunes
  • École de la Rose Sauvage
  • École de la Source
  • École Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys
  • École francophone d‘Airdrie
  • École Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix
  • École élémentaire Silverado
  • École secondaire Silverado

SWIS staff also support students in French immersion schools. The mission of SWIS is to facilitate the integration and academic success of newly arrived students while promoting the full development and well-being of both the students and their families.
